Feet to the Fire

Donald Trump's lying knows no limit. Today at his limited visit to our southern border, he stated in response to reporters that he never meant that Mexico would actually pay in money to build the wall but that they would be paying because of better trade deals. Let's concede that in his heart and addled brain he never meant what he said, in fact he knew he was lying and now he's lying again. We know what he said, it's permanently preserved on video.

According to inside sources, Trump did not want to do the address from the Oval Office on Tuesday night or go to the border today. His advisors convinced him to do both. The Trump Shutdown is in it's nineteenth day and he truly doesn't care. Hundreds of thousands of federal employees and sub-contractors are not being paid. While the federal employees will receive all of their back pay when the shutdown ends, most of them live paycheck to paycheck and are facing traumatic devastation to their lives. Some of them occupy positions which require them to work without pay or face termination, is that alright with you? Others are on furlough but are forbidden to seek other forms of employment. Sub-contractors will not receive back pay, many of which are low wage earners who have now been laid off. At some point in February food stamps will cease to be issued, is that alright with you?

Donald Trump walked out of a meeting with Congressional leaders in less than twenty minutes yesterday because Speaker of the House Pelosi said no to his demands. That's not negotiating, that's the act of a child throwing a temper tantrum. Trump claims he is a master negotiator but the true story of his business life shows he is not and he definitely is out of his depth in Washington.

Tragically we are getting exactly what we deserve as a nation that delivered Donald Trump to the Presidency, a reality T.V. show displaying human wreckage and the outrageous conduct of it's stars making bad choices and inflicting damage on those around them. In this case an entire country. There are those who enjoy this and still say Trump is doing a great job, how do you reach these people and convince them that the loudmouth at a bar may be amusing for a few months but ultimately they are destructive.
